The first word that came to mind when exiting the theatre was “empty”. As a stylistic exercise the film would get top marks; as a story, it has no depth at all. Coppola seems to have more interest in patterns and colours than her characters. You can see where she was trying to go, but she got caught staring out of the window on her way there. [link]
